Roadme works out what a drive in Norway costs. It needs no account, builds no profile, shows no advertising and tracks nobody. What it is told, it uses to answer the question and then lets go of.
One thing is kept on purpose, and only if you ask for it: a log of the drives you make with our own navigator, so the app can tell you what a month of driving cost. It is written on your phone. Signing in keeps a copy on our server so it survives a new phone. The tick that turns it on is in front of you the first time the app opens, and again when you sign in.
The places you enter and a description of your vehicle go to our server, because that is where the route is worked out and priced.
A registration number, if you enter one, goes to our server and on to Statens vegvesen to read the technical data for that vehicle. It is never written to a log, a file or a database, is held in memory for at most thirty minutes so that asking twice costs one lookup, and the app clears the field as soon as the answer arrives.
While you follow a route, your position stays on the phone. It is not sent anywhere, and no track of where you drove is recorded — not on the phone and not on our server.
If you turned on «Save my drives» and signed in, then at the end of each drive with our navigator we receive the two place names, the distance, how long it took, what the fuel, ferries and tolls came to, and how many times the road was rebuilt. No coordinates and no route: enough to add up a month, not enough to say where you have been.
A calculated route is held for fifteen minutes so that asking for the same one again is instant. After that it is gone.
To count the free daily allowance we keep a salted, one-way hash of the caller for one day. It cannot be turned back into an address or a person.
We count how many routes are calculated, and from which country, as plain numbers. Nothing in those counts is attached to anyone.
The drive log, if you asked for it and signed in, is kept for two years and then deleted by itself. Each row is filed under a salted, one-way hash of your Apple sign-in — not under your Apple ID, your name or your email, none of which we hold. Deleting your profile removes every row at once.
The drive log itself, always — whether or not you ever sign in. Turning the tick off stops the recording and erases what is already there; it does not hide it.
Your vehicle setup, your recent routes and, if you sign in, the sign-in token are stored in the iOS keychain on this device. They are not copied to us. Deleting the app deletes them.
Signing in is optional and only raises the daily allowance. It uses Sign in with Apple, so the only thing we receive is the identifier Apple issues, and an email address if you choose to share one. There is no password and no other sign-in method.
Ferry fares: Statens vegvesen / AutoPASS for ferje. Sailing times and operator notices: Entur. Fuel prices: Statistics Norway. Tolls, rest areas and road closures: Statens vegvesen. Charging stations: NOBIL. Vehicle data: Statens vegvesen. Maps: OpenStreetMap.
Each is used under its own licence, NLOD or CC BY 4.0, and credited in the app beside the prices it produces.
Roadme is not directed at children and asks for nothing that would identify one.
Because we hold no account and no profile, there is normally nothing of yours for us to show you or delete.
If you have signed in, «Delete profile» at the foot of the app removes it: the daily counter goes at once instead of expiring on its own, we ask Apple to revoke the sign-in so Roadme leaves your Apple ID, and your saved car and saved routes are wiped from the phone. Nothing has to be asked for and nothing is kept back.
To ask anything about any of this, write to hi@roadme.no and we will answer.
