Fares by length class
AutoPASS ferries price by the vehicle's total length including any trailer, not by type. The fares below are the ordinary rate without an agreement; an electric car under six metres pays 70 per cent of that figure, and an AutoPASS tag gives 10 per cent off. Passengers go free.

Not sure of the class: a car with a caravan is rarely under eight metres, a motorhome rarely under seven. Pick the length in the calculator above and the crossing is priced correctly.
The crossing and the sailings
56 min on board, sailings every 20 minutes in the daytime. The longest ferry on the E39 between Bergen and Stavanger, and the dearest. Hordfast, the bridge meant to replace it, is approved but not built. Until then the alternative is two shorter ferries via Tysnes — which takes longer and costs more.
Paying and discounts
- AutoPASS agreement: the car is read automatically, 10 per cent off, invoiced afterwards. The same tag as at the toll stations.
- AutoPASS ferry card: prepaid, 50 per cent off for private customers and 40 for businesses. Worth it for anyone who crosses weekly.
- No agreement: the plate is photographed and the invoice comes by post — from Epass24 for foreign cars — or you pay on board where there is a ticket collector.
- Electric cars: 70 per cent of the ordinary AP1 fare, not half. A zero-emission vehicle longer than six metres pays 50 per cent. Plug-in hybrids count as petrol or diesel.
Without the ferry
Halhjem–Våge and Jektavik–Hodnanes, two shorter ferries via Tysnes: 52 km, 1 h 26 min plus waiting, NOK 254 for a petrol car in fuel and tolls. The calculator shows the detour, priced, when the crossing is cancelled.
